HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Share your passion for food, farming, and the environment! Work outside, eat good food, and learn how to be an eco-super hero!
SENIOR INTERNSHIP/PROJECT: The Kayam Spring Internship occurs each spring during April and May (dependent on individual high school schedules). Interns gain valuable hands-on skills working in three main areas: sustainable agriculture, trail & ecology, and green building & design. In addition to these work areas, interns are trained in experiential environmental education curriculum taught at Kayam, and will help lead programs with groups on the farm. When our interns leave, they will hold valuable skills, both as real land-stewards and as environmental educators. Click here for more information.
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: Whether you want to spend time working outside with your youth group and friends, or you need service learning hours, we would love to work with you in our dirt!
What can you expect to do at Kayam?
- Plant, dig, harvest, mulch, compost, blaze trails
- Learn and train in environmental education
- Work outdoors in a beautiful setting
- Work with our farmers who are making a difference
- Eat delicious food while you work!
JEYO: JEYO was started by a group of teens who decided that something must be done to help the environment! Their community service based organization is the first of its kind; they are the first Jewish Youth Organization solely dedicated to helping the environment. Please see their facebook page for more information.
ECO SERVICE CAMP: Join other like-minded teens this summer for a week-long service camp (July 6th- 10th) at Kayam farm. Gain hands-on experience in organic farming and environmental land stewardship, participate in amazing environmental projects around Baltimore city, and create greening projects for your home and community. Participants will complete 30 hours of community service.
SPECIALIZED OPPORTUNITIES: There are also a myriad of specialized volunteer opportunities. Please see a complete list of them in the individual volunteer opportunities page.
