Green Loan Fund
In partnership with The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore (The Associated), Pearlstone is proud to administer and offer the Green Loan Fund for qualifying organizations within Baltimore’s faith-based community. Since 2010, when The Associated secured a stipend from an anonymous donor, a Pearlstone-facilitated committee vets applications for qualifying organizations to receive green project loans. Sample projects include:
- Lighting improvements
- Mechanical equipment upgrades
- Automation and controls for lights
- Solar generation
With a minimal administrative fee, The Associated loans money, interest free, to approved organizations. To date, there have been 13 loans from the fund totaling $489,338. The cumulative projected savings for the 11 institutions is more than $186,000 per year.

Pearlstone Sustainability Coalition
Launched in 2015, and currently chaired by Pearlstone Board Member, Delegate Dana Stein, the Pearlstone Sustainability Coalition facilitates the coming together of individuals and organizations to promote and foster our collective vision:
A culture where sustainability and environmental health are integral to Baltimore’s Jewish community
The mission of the Pearlstone Sustainability Coalition is to catalyze deep and lasting culture change toward greater sustainability throughout Baltimore’s Jewish community. We accomplish this through action, advocacy, and education. Examples of our efforts include:
- Collaborating with the Associated on a large-scale solar project
- Partnering with the Baltimore Jewish Council to organize an annual Maryland-focused environmental issues forum
- Educating community members on environmental issues such as solar energy, environmental advocacy, and waste prevention
