Where will Tiyul Teen Adventurers be travelling?
Tiyul Teens will embark on a 4-day/3-night backpacking trip to a scenic location 1-3 hour's drive from Pearlstone.
What gear will Tiyul Teen Adventurers need?
A packing list including clothing and gear list will become available in the Spring of 2020.
How should my Tiyul Teen Adventurer prepare for their trip?
The most important kind of training is the kind that stimulates heart and lung activity for at least 30 minutes without stopping. To prepare for the summer, teen adventurers should break in their hiking boots by wearing them while climbing stairs or walking around their neighborhoods with weight in their backpacks.
Can First-Time Campers Participate?
YES!! We will spend the first week of Tiyul Teen Adventures at Pearlstone participating in Tiyul Overnight Camp activities and building community together.
What types of safety precautions are taken on the backpacking trip?
While a Registered Nurse will not be hiking along with the Tiyul Teen Adventurers, all of the trip leaders are certified by the Red Cross in Adult First Aid/CPR/AED. Hike leaders will have cell phone service on the trail as well.
What does the participant interview entail?
Each perspective Tiyul Teen Adventurer and their parent or guardian must meet with the camp director in person or via telephone to discuss expectations of the participant as well as speak to their excitement and address any concerns. The camp director will reach out to schedule all interviews.
What is the cost?
Our Tiyul Teen Adventures costs $2,000, which includes a $200 non-refundable deposit, paid upon registration. Families may work out a payment plan with the camp administrator for the remaining $1,800.
