The Pearlstone Retreat Center and The JOCSM “We Are Family” Shabbaton Covid Policy
Pearlstone, JMN, Khazbar, and the JOC Mishpacha Project are committed to your wellness and healing while in this space. Our registrants are a top priority. While we outline our protocols here, please note that Pearlstone’s protocols consistently exceed government recommendations, including the guidance of CDC, federal, state and local advisories in our efforts to keep all people on our land as safe as possible. The policies are subject to change and at the present time are as follows:

All guests of the JOCSM Shabbaton must have proof of vaccination status.

Health Screening
• Our safety team will conduct a health screening of each attendee before they enter the campus.
• Pearlstone team members will administer daily Pearlstone health screenings with all attendees.

Mask Policy
• Masks are worn indoors by all people regardless of vaccination status.
• Masks are to be worn anytime anyone is unable to maintain a 6’ distance from other attendees, including when outside.
• The Dining Room will follow our COVID-19 protocols which limit the number of people, outside of a pod, from sitting less than 6 feet apart. Chairs and tables will be spaced apart to ensure safety. Masks must be worn when at the buffet. We will have heaters outdoors for those who prefer to dine outside.

Pearlstone Staff Policy
• Pearlstone staff have a vaccination mandate: all staff are either fully vaccinated or have completed a medical or religious waiver and provide regular test results.
• Additional COVID-19 protocols at Pearlstone include all cooks have completed ServSafe COVID-19 Precautionary training, all high-touch surfaces are disinfected using electrostatic guns, and the Retreat Center HVAC uses MERV 13 filters are replaced quarterly.

Covid Testing
• All Shabbaton attendees will be asked to take a COVID-19 PCR test no more than 72 hours prior to arrival and to provide proof of a negative result. We will not be accepting Rapid Tests results. Once that testing is complete, we ask that all attendees limit any activities that could risk exposure, such as spending time unmasked indoors with others. We will ask everyone to present proof of negative COVID-19 PCR test results at check-in.
• Pearlstone may ask any participant exhibiting symptoms to get tested locally and hold that participant from participating in Shabbaton programming.
• There is a PCR Testing Center overseen by the Star K that conducts rapid PCR testing returning results within 4-5 hours.

Participants who test positively for Covid
• Individuals who test positive are asked to immediately leave the campus (with their pod if applicable).
• If immediate exit from the campus is not feasible, participants who test positive will be placed in isolation in a comfortable room. Participant will be put in isolation in a comfortable room.
• All POD participants and their companions will be notified that a person in the POD has a positive test for Covid and that leaving the Pearlstone campus is advised.
