Dec 21, 2015The company awarded $325,000 through 3rd annual Green Grants program.
BGE toasted representatives from more than 50 nonprofit organizations this past October for their commitment to environmental preservation, protection and enhancement. Recipients of BGE’s third annual Green Grants gathered for a reception at the Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center in Reisterstown; the facility itself received a 2015 grant to install educational kiosks detailing its many eco-friendly improvements. This year, BGE awarded a total of $325,000 to groups in seven counties and Baltimore City.
“All of our guests this evening are working to encourage personal investment in our environment, something that is key if we are going to keep enjoying facilities like the Pearlstone Center for years to come,” stated BGE CEO Calvin G. Butler Jr. The BGE Green Grants program is a way for us to positively impact the environment with partners throughout our territory. We’re excited at the response that this program attracts and look forward to the good work done by each of the recipients.”
The BGE Green Grants program is open to 501c3 nonprofit organizations located in BGE’s central Maryland service territory that are committed to making a positive impact on the environment. Grants range from $1000 to $10,000 and are awarded in the following environmental focus areas: conservation, education, energy efficiency, pollution prevention and community engagement. Since its inception, BGE’s Green Grants program has provided more than $1,000,000 to organizations across central Maryland.
